CONFLICT BETWEEN RELIGION AND TRADITION: TGH. MUHAMMAD SHOLEH HAMBALI’S CRITIQUES ON THE TRADITION OF SORONG SORONG SERAH AJIKERAME IN THE TRADITIONAL SASAK MARRIAGE

Abstract

Customs and Islamic law must be side by side, if the customs are in conflict with religious values, then religion must be the role model. The fatwa barometer of TGH. This tradition has had several changes made to adapt to the teachings of Islam, because the majority of the Sasak people are Muslims. Then in some areas and villages in Lombok, the Sorong Serah Ajikerame tradition is rarely or even no longer carried out, considering the changing conditions and the erosion of time are also factors that make this tradition sometimes no longer carried out by some of the parents of the bride and groom, except for some people and villages that still have strong traditions and still strongly maintain them.
